Franca Sozzani for John Galliano

Franca Sozzani, who publicly stated her allegiance to John Galliano right after he was fired from Dior in February, hasn't changed her tune: “Hire back John Galliano."

She continues: “Look. I understand their point of view [at Dior]. I understand they couldn’t just say, ‘Bad boy! We forgive you! Come back!’ But it’s really a pity. And I will never believe he believed what he said. I think he was drunk and alone in a bar. When people go crazy, they go crazy. It’s a human case, it’s not political or religious. He didn’t kill anyone!”
She also gives an opinion on her former Vogue colleague Carine Roitfeld, who she says was “very good at building up her own image.” Sozzani suggests that Roitfeld forgot she worked for Conde Nast and became too interested in having her picture taken. “I’m not a celebrity, I’m an editor,” Sozzani says. “If you feel that to be the editor of Vogue you have to be a celebrity, something is wrong in your life.”

Christian Dior Haute Couture autumn/winter 2011.

So it has been established that Christian Dior (The House of Dior) has become the first fashion house in living memory to present a haute couture collection without a named couturier, following the sacking of disgraced British designer John Galliano.

 
This is the first Dior Haute Couture collection that is not designed by Galliano in 15 years. He was sacked in April amid allegations of racial and antisemitic abuse. I feel saddened to see that this collection is totally lacking the Galliano's touch!

John Galliano will never work for Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy(LVMH)

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, has announced that John Galliano will never work for LVMH again. I feel saddened to hear this news. For some of you readers, LVMH is a world leader in luxury, LVMH Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton possesses a unique portfolio of over 60 prestigious brands. Now, Bill Gaytten will take over the Galliano Company as Creative Director of the Brand. Gaytten has worked for Galliano and Dior for years, and presented Galliano’s men’s collection in Paris last week.

Bill Gaytten stepped out the shadows to take a bow at the finale of the first John Galliano Homme show since the celebrated British couturier's spectacular fall from grace in February. "I've worked with John a long time," a bedenimed Gaytten, 51, who grew up in Oldham, near Manchester in the north of England, told reporters backstage. "I first started (working with Galliano) when I was about 24, 25," he said. "We came to Paris together, we started at Galliano together, we started at Dior together." In contrast to the ever-flamboyant Galliano, Gaytten -- a specialist in cutting -- sent out a remarkably more wearable collection on Friday, albeit with nods to his predecessor's sensibilities. Building on a 1960s Swinging London theme, the show opened with military jackets with pilgrim hats, then moved into colourful David Hockney-esque outfits and a parade of underwear including candy-striped hipsters. Surprisingly, the suits were probably the most business-friendly of any others seen since the spring-summer shows began on Wednesday in the French capital. Asked to set out his vision for the lable, Gaytten replied: "I think keeping the cult of Galliano. It's always romantic, there's always a narrative -- and cool cutting, which is what I do." He replied "yes, well, yes I have," when asked if he had been in touch with Galliano recently, but then refrained from saying more.
